Ive just swapped jobs and have gone from using 07 full version and am now using 05LT... not only did I find it irritating that i had to go back and reset my personal preferences although I was expecting that.. the thing that has really really annoyed me is that all of the little goodies that I have gotten used to using such as lisp files and rotate even BEdit dont exist in 05LT..
I cant even find the standard toolbar with the layisolate command in..
has any one else had to deal with this problem..
I know there is nothing I can do short of get an upgrade but I thought I might have a little winge..

The Layer Isolate toolbar doesn't exist in LT '05. It does however exist in LT '07 and up. You will find lots of things missing in the LT version of AutoCAD. Most guys on this board will admit that they would rather use a full version of AutoCAD 2000 vs. a new version of AutoCAD LT 2008 anyday.
To be eligible for an upgrade for LT users, it has to be within 3 years of the version date, which falls perfect for your version since you are running LT '05. The upgrade is only $350, in soon time you will not be able to upgrade that version of LT and it'll cost the full price which is $900. I would suggest proposing this to your boss, because LT '08 does have many new features, such as the Layer tools you're used to.
Hope this helps some... :)

I feel for ya...
You won't find Layiso (or any other Express tools) in LT. We recently upgraded the whole office to C3D 2008, but before that some were on LT, and we installed LT Extender with success, you may want to look into that. It's fairly cheap and comes with a generous trial period.

Ouch. I feel for you. Downgrading through versions is bad enough, let alone having to go to LT as well.
I know there are MANY commands missing from LT, but there are not as many as you may think. Some of the commands are still there, but do not have an icon. If you can not see an icon, type the command if you know it, if it works then create a custom button for it.

If it were me, I would spring for LT Extender out of my own pocket or even 2008LT and LT Extender if the company refused to upgrade.

You know it's funny to bring this up, because everyone here is running LT except me. But there's this one drafter that is actually extremely effecient in LT. I've watched him draft, and he is FAST. not just in "drafting" but in layer control and everything. he has really found a lot of shortcuts in LT, and I would love to see what he could do with a full version.

Jeez. I hope you at least didn't take a downgrade in pay too. Now that would really hurt. Double ouch!

I did take a downgrade in pay but its offset against the fact that I now get holiday pay and dont have to travel 4 hours a day to go into london... so glad im not the only person who finds LT annoying..
the worse thing is it takes so much longer to do anything..
oh on the layiso note incase someone does a search.. ..
when i was using 07 I couldnt see a button for unisolate and other people I know were finding it a paing to have to go back to the view they were using before... the command to unisolate is wait for it UNISOL- created a button and jobs a goodun...

Ozymandias,
You may find this an interesting read. It's from the soon to be launched FAQ.
http://www.cadtutor.net/faq/questions/21/What+is+the+difference+between+AutoCAD+%28full%29+ and+AutoCAD+LT%3F
You have to gather all the evidence you need to convince the boss he must get you back on full acad, asap. :P
