Hello, we are a store fixture manufacturer that makes a variety of wooden fixtures and custom millwork for the super market industry. See http://www.jsistorefixtures.com/ for examples. We recently (3 wks) switched to Inventor from AutoCAD.

Curious as to how I should get info from the parts that are in our assemblies. Looking to get our stock number(MEL 001), Stock Description(3/4x4'x8' Black Mel), and the parts length.width.thickness once it is defined in the assembly.

Can I create some kind of library of adaptive parts that basically was a "chunk" of all the different types of panel goods or stock lumber that we have? These parts would have all manufacturing data set in the properties of the part, such as our Stock Numbers and Descriptions, also set up length, width, thickness parameters. Could I then insert these adaptive library parts into my assemblies and create the parts to build the fixture? Resize, Drill holes, dado, ect.

I am ultimately looking to use this info to generate cutlists for our beamsaw, hardwood upcut saw and also for shop floor viewing. Any ideas or opinions on this matter would greatly be appreciated.
