When I select an object, right-click/properties nothing comes up. prompt response is critical.

Just to cover the bases, if you hit Ctrl+1 does it show?Type PROPERTIES[enter]
Through the Window Menu and select Properties Palette.

Also gortex,

which software version are you using? Year and level please, eg. AutoCAD 2008, or AutoCAD 2005 LT, or any verticals.

OK. Is there any error message at the command line?
If not, have you tried restarting AutoCAD?

Also increase your screen resolution if possible because it may be that the palette has been acidentally dragged off screen.

Do any of your pop-up windows come up, such as save as or open?

no errors.

restarted AutoCad, computer, reloaded AutoCad.

To no avail.

Try _FILEDIA = 1

Try the REPAIR first! save your customisations and insert the AutoCAD install CD. Choose Repair.
This is what I did in AutoCAD 2006.
