OK all you AutoCad gurus. I really need your help this time.
When I save a drawing with a different name and then re-load it again my model has disappeared.
The viewports are still there, but the actual drawing is nowhere to be found.
Any ideas??

Bruce.

Some more details.......
The model shows up in the preview screen when you try to load the drg.
Also, when I zoom on the model I have some tex that says XREF followed by the drawing name.
The title blocks are still on all the paper space viewports too.

OK, here some more details, as I work on this.
Obviously my model is XREF'd to another file.
I moved that file to my new directory as well, and everything shows up just fine.
My next question though.............
How do I change my drawing so it is not xref'd?

Try _ZOOM _ALL. Now you have found it?

It sounds like your xref and/or drawing file has been moved to a different folder location, and thus your xref is not being loaded correctly.
enter the XREF command, and then browse for where your xref file is located.
click on save path, once you have found it.
if you wish to 'remove' the xref completely and have it completely within your drawing file, you must bind it into your drawing file

Right on the money NBC. After some more research that's exactly what I found. So the next question, how do i bind and xref into my drawing?

My apologies. I'm asking question way to quickly.
I figured out how to bind an xref. So this puzzle is solved. Back to the drawing board, to see what other puzzles lie ahead of me.

Binding may work in this instance, but I wouldn't get into the habit of doing this, especially in an office environment. Xrefs are Xrefs for a reason. Xrefs are files that are usually shared out into many other drawings, so an update to the Xref will update all drawings that have the Xref inserted. If you Bind the Xref, and someone else in your office updates it, your drawing will not receive the update and this could get you into trouble.

Thanks Cad64. I did take that into consideration. I'm consulting for a very small outfit. There may be another draftsman after me, but will never be more than 1 draftsman at any one time. So I feel confident that xref's are not required in this instance.
