I'm missing a shape file called "TMPSHAPE.SHX" I've run across this before but i've just bypassed it and continued on. I really don't know what it does. I forwarded some drawings along that are missing this shape file and now i'm getting a request for it. So I guess it's time to find out what it does and to see how I go about getting it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

SHX files are either fonts assigned to a text style or shapefiles used by a complex linetype. Try PURGE.
The file should be in your support folder if you have it.
If you don't have it and purge doesn't get rid of the prompt, check for complex linetypes that might not look right and try changing the layers that use it to something else and then PURGE again...
Same process if it's a font- check the text styles in the dwg and change the font used to one you have...

Shape files are kind of important. I wouldn't just try to get rid of it. I would contact the person you got the drawings from and ask them to send you the shape file. It's true that it might be just a font that can be substituted with a different one, but it also could be a special shape used in a linetype. Without the shape file, the linetype will lose it's definition and not serve the purpose it was created for. The linetype might be defining a gas line or sewer line or something very important.
This is why I always harp on people about using ETRANSMIT when sending files. That way, important things like fonts, shape files, xrefs, images, etc. are never missing.

Thanks for the help. I ran a search for the file and it was on my computer. I put it in with the dwgs and I was no longer prompted for it. I tried to see where the changes were in the drawing but I couldnt find anything. But something small could be easy to miss..
