Hi to all,

My first post after many hours on the internet to no avail
I am using AutoCad 2008
I have a simple rectangle which i can stretch equally in opposite directions, I have set the distance multiplier to 0.5 and all seems to work except the on screen tooltip doesn't seem to stay locked to my end points and the parameter arrow to the right is not moving the correct distance.
Hope this makes sense and many thanks to anyone that can offer any help.
I am attaching the file in the hope of better explain my problem:?

I don't have AutoCAD at home so I'm guessing here but I always set my stretch multipliers to 1 & -1.

as dbroada eluded to it is becasue your stretch multiplier is set to half...so when you grab the grip and stretch it it will of course appear to be 2x farther from the edge of your rectangle because it is only "grow" 1/2 the distance...

simply set the multiplier to 1 and you should be good!..-1 is an alternate to using an angle offset of 180 degrees but either methods with do...

thanks hazardman, my reply wasn't bad for not having seen the block. :D

tlawson, just a personal preference but when I do this sort of thing I tend to put my insertion point in the centre of the object. Either in the centre of the rectangle or the middle of the line - that way the rectangle remains balanced after the stretch.
