I recently saved a Powerpoint presentation to a cd so that I could give it to someone for a gift. When I tried playing it in another computer, however, it worked but minus the music I had. What can I do to save both the presentation AND the music to a cd?? Thanks.

The answer depends a little on what version you are using. If you are using 2003, just use the File>Package for CD... option. This does everything for you. Prior to 2003, you must ensure that any music or video files are saved in the same folder as your PPT or PPS file. If you do this, the path will be relative and will work on any PC. If you save music/video files in a different folder, the path is absolute and they will not be found on another PC.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have the 2002 version. How would I go about saving files to the same place? Thanks.

You need to make sure that the music/video files are in the same folder as your PPT file when you insert them into your presentation. If you have already inserted them, you'll need to do this again - there's no way to modify the path to an inserted object. :(

Is there any way you could walk me through this or give me a step by step method? I am not quite understanding what I need to do. Thanks.

Sorry! I understand what the tutorial is saying, but do not know how to accomplish it. Here's my situation. I have 3 songs that I want to insert into a presentation. But the 3 files are files that I downloaded from a program similar to napster, so they just went to a folder on their own. How can I save them into the same folder where my presentation is? Thanks for the help.

You'll need to move the files from the folder they were downloaded to the folder your PPT file is in. If you're not sure where they are, check your download defaults on whatever software you used to save them or use Windows Search facility, they may be in the My Music folder.
