I've added a new module to the Statistics Page (http://cadtutor.net/forum/statistics.php). This one shows the top posters from last month and is a good compliment to the Top Posters this Month module.

Have Fun!

Are the month tags supposed to update automatically? I noticed "this month" is still November...if they don't change by themselves, you could probably get rid of them -- I bet we all know what month it is. :-)

Not sure what you mean Kate. There are two stats modules for monthly postings. The "this" month module reads "December" and the "last" month module reads "November" - or am I missing something?

They do update automatically (or they should!).

Hmm...mine still say October and November...is it just me?

BTW, I like the snowflakes. :-)

Very nice!! Did you write the code for that David?

CADTutor

Yes, I wrote the code for the "last month" module (which is probably why Kate is having problems :? ). But the Statistics module as a whole is an off-the-peg mod. Find it here (http://www.phpbbhacks.com/category/24).

There are also some useful admin modules that help with the running of the forum although obviously you can't see those.

Kate, you're right! (I didn't doubt you :) ). It's to do with user time settings. Your's is set to GMT -8 and when I set mine to the same, I got the same result. It's obviously a bug in the PHP code. I'll take a look at it. Thanks fro flagging this up.

OK I've corrected the month name bug. That should now read correctly irrespective of your timezone setting :)

Frank,

Here goes:

Draw Linear Objects

A line, the most basic object, can be one segment or a series of connected segments.

Draw Lines

With line, you can create a series of contiguous line segments.

Each single segment can be edited seperately from the other line segments in a series. You can close a sequence of line segments so that the first and last segments are joined.

To draw lines

1. From the draw menu, choose line.

2. Specify start point. (You can use the pointing device or enter the coordinates on the command line.)

3. Complete the first line segment by specifying the endpoint. (To undo the previous line segment during the LINE command, enter u or choose Undo on the toolbar.)

4. Specify the endpoints of any additional line segments.

5. Press ENTER to end or c to close a series of line segments. (To start a new line at the endpoint of the last line drawn, start the LINE command again and press ENTER at the Specify Start Point prompt.)

Next week we will discuss the color cyan and its ability to be seen against either a black or white "model tab background ".

Respectfully,

DoYouKnowMe

Did you guys look at the stats for the month-by-month posts?

A new record was set last month... over 1700 posts in one month!

CADTutor

Yep, that's right. It's consistent with the annual trend from previous years. We always get a bit of a boost at this time of year once all the high schools, colleges and universities start up and everyone else is back from summer holls. Autumn is usually busy but last month was particularly good. We must be doing something right.

i was thinking about this yesterday after i read it and comparing it to other boards i frequent including my own 2 boards (car related)... when i first joined this board i found it through google, i also found many others and i actually joined a few, but within a week or two, i knew which i would frequent more and more because of activity, member friendlyness, site appearance, etc. there's some cad sites out there and theyre really rough looking, not too user friendly, as there are also some with a lot of registered professionals, but some boards are also nazi-like in how they treat members so its no fun.

the only thing i would change on this board is to switch the software to vB instead of phpbb but that's just my opinion. I usually sign up to vB boards only because of the user friendly interface and ease of use. i guess the reason why i stayed here is because as i read the new topics i found many unanswered questions and was able to help people out in my replies, also had some questions answered rather quickly (big factor here) and lastly i guess, the people that are here were friendly to me, havent gotten into any flamefights but then again this is a professional site so i wouldnt expect that here anyways.

okay that's enough reading for now.

Wow...
vBulletin? Naw, it doesn't matter to me but if I had a preference, I'd go with SMF or phpBB over vB. I also like IPB, but not as much as phpBB/SMF.

i ♥ vB. im about to acquire a 3rd license.

CADTutor
11th Oct 2005, 01:58 pm
I'm using phpBB here because I like to support open source solutions where I can. Also, it is very flexible with loads of mods etc. However, the delay in upgrades has made me think about other options. I do like IPB - it's an all round good piece of work. I have experienced vB as a member but I'm not that taken with it. Maybe Bloodwig80 can give us some good reasons for a move to vB. Could it be that I'd find your posts easier to moderate?

Bloodwig80
11th Oct 2005, 02:03 pm
har har har. moderation with v3.5 is out of this world. when i upgraded from 3.0.9 to 3.5.0 my mods were im'ing me telling me that it was the best thing that ever happened.
