I started Autocad drafting with Autocad 97 Light. Since I started using
Autocad 2000 I have had an on going problem with dimentioning.
The trouble is that the snap will pick on the end point of a previous
dimention line extention instead of the endpoint, intersection etc
of the actuall drawing entity. I never had that problem with 97 Light.
Anyway I find myself going into the dim. diolouge and suppressing
the ext. lines untill I am ready to print and then turning them back on for the plot. Time consuming!! Is there a variable I can alter to correct this?
I realize I can change the offset of the ext. lines to a much greater distance but as I said, this never happened in Acad Lt. 97 so I am curious
If some variable is set differently.

Maybe your aperture is too big? Check out the setting on the Drafting tab of the Options box. Also, you can use TAB to cycle through available osnaps, so you can see which entity you're actually snapping to.
