i was experimenting with acad and came across SNAPANG (which i seen through the FAQ). its the same as rotating the UCS along the Z axis but with some differences

with snapang only ortho mode aligns to snap angle. polar mode remains relative to the UCS

drawing a rectangle with a rotated snap angle doest align it to the new angle but to the current UCS

blocks are inserted relative to the UCS not to the snapang


so what is SNAPANG useful for??

I was using it a lot when was working on renovation of old club in sydeny few years back. It had all the walls non parallel or non perpendicular. a colegue who was working on the project prior to me showed it how to use it. so to redesignthe spaces parallel or perpendicular to pne of the walls we were using it. we were switching it very often to work with diff. walls.
It was very useful tool.
sanpbase is realted command & i was using to set origin of my tiles hatches at that time when didn't knew about hporigin.

First of all I tried entering snapang 0.
That didnt work then I tried New UCS Z = 0.
That didnt do anything either. Its asking me to specify the rotation angle. But I dont know it as my ortho vertical line is not at 90.

Any other ideas?

Try UCS > World, then Plan > Current
or
UCS > View

there are lisp routines to make the job easier

If I have a plan view that doesn't fit well on my sheet, I use Dview, rotate it to the angle I need, then use SNAPANG to rotate the USC to where I need it.
