Thanks for the feedback.

Anything you guys see that I probably dont need or can just get later at a cheaper price that wont affect my performance?

My company gives me a $1500 no interest loan that they deduct payments from my paycheck over a year period. So the less I can have deducted the better but I also want the best PC for my buck.

If that makes sense.

I would say that sounds pretty good.

BUT, since you asked.

Can you get it with out a Fax/Modem?

I would purchase this separately, depending on what that will take off the price
Netgear WGR614 54mbps Cable/DSL Wireless-G w/ Firewall. I do not care much for Netgear.

Is there a reason you are going with Dell, I got my mom to get a Dell a while back and we had tons of problems with their Customer No-Service?

I take it you have done some price comparing.

Did you check out the thread where StykFacE built his own?

I would also check to see what they are charging for the monitor and consider it as a separate purchase.

yeah, I love the fact my company let me build my own. They don't let us do that here, but for me they comprimised. My computer flys compared to the POS Hewlett Packard's we are contracted with. Building computers has been a hobby of mine since I was 15, so that's ten years now I've been building rigs. :)

Do you remember the thread? I thought he might like to see what you built.

Depends on what else you're using the computer for. Do you really need a 500GB hard drive?

Doesnt change price if I get it without

I do not care much for Netgear.

Got rid of the netgear and dropped my sub total to $1458.07
from $1502.00

Is there a reason you are going with Dell, I got my mom to get a Dell a while back and we had tons of problems with their Customer No-Service?

I have had Dell before with no big issues, but the main reason is that my company has a purchasing program with them and they give me a $1500.00 no interest loan that I pay through paycheck deductions.

So its just a way for me to get a new computer without paying it all at once and/or financing

I would also check to see what they are charging for the monitor and consider it as a separate purchase.

Monitor comes with the package.

Dropped it down to this hard drive

320GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™

and it brought my total down to $1418.37

Will be using it for mainly ACAD and some 3DS max or something

I have run across that thread before. I just dont have the luxury of being able to build through sites like newegg and stuff like that.

Im trying to get the most out of the benefit my company offers.

By the way thanks for all the responses guys. Keep them coming...

I remember now, your company uses Dell or something and you can purchase a Dell through the company and repay them.

Yea I meant to mention the Hard drive size as well.

Have they got a less expensive Speaker option?

I think you will be happy with what you got.

Is the Dell Outlet (outlet.dell.com) an option? because you can get some really good deals in there. Would probably nock $200ish off your price so that you could save some money or up your specs.

They have a speaker option that will subtract $27 or I can get it without speakers and subtract $45

So if anyone know where I can get a good set of speakers for under $50 than I will not include them

Its not for the office its for my own personal use at home.
The company places the order based on what I want, than once it is received they transfer ownership to me and I basically just repay the company.

do the do a E6750 CPU? if so how much more as its a better CPU

smorales02

As far as the speaker option goes it is actually less expensive for me to just keep them beacause its keeps the total above $1600 which than gives me a 12% discount as oppose to taking them off and dropping below $1600 which only gives me a 8% discount.

Not to sure I will have to check up on that. I am going to play around with some other configurations and different computers they offer to see the best deal. I will post what I come up with probably later tonight or tommorrow.

Once again thanks for all the advice guys.

500gigs is a waay too much space. Sure you want to save data, but when the drive goes, do you want to lose 500 gigs of info.

4gigs 4x what is needed and double what you can use. 2gigs will kick butt on your pc.

get the biggest monitor you can get. 22 or 24"s I have a 22" and still need more space. I think I'm going to buy another 22 and hook them up together. for example, when I have a photo and I need to sketch it. I would like to have the photo on one screen and cad on the other. Then, I just mouse over to the photo when I need to, and I can see them both at the same time.

I'm not a fan of wireless keyboards and mice. Having them hard wired means they never miss an input. Though, mine was IR not bluetooth, so maybe this isn't an issue. Keyboard would still need to be charged from time to time. And you prolly already own a wired keyboard.

You prolly already have speakers, too. You could take that off the ticket.

The processor is scary fast. You'll be working your butt off trying to keep it warm. Also the ram speeds kick butt, too.

Harddrive speed of 7200 is very important, but again 500gigs? Does that mean when you want to open a file, the computer has to scan 500gigs to find it. I wonder if having a 50gig harddrive would lead to faster results. Every file I open, my pc never has to search over 50gigs to find it. Yours would have lots of space to look.

It's a little better. Same FSB speed and both have 4mb Cache which I wish I had, lol. You would be going from 2.33 to 2.66, just over 10% increase in just the cpu speed. This would not be seen as a 10% increase on how long it takes to do a task as there are more variables that to work with the cpu. I doubt I would be able to tell a difference.

That is a nice machine. I like mine, it's fast and does everything I want, but it's not near as fast as yours, lol.

Nope, HD works with an index, they search for the files there and then go to the physical location. So having a 500 against a 50 is just a matter of space, I would go for the 500.

I bought mine almost a year ago with a 300 gb hd, and thought I will never fill it, and now I got just 10 gb left.

Technology is advancing and it requires more and more capacity, so I'd suggest you to be prepared.
