I have a drawing that the text for the dimensions is too small to read when it is plotted. I want to increase the text height but can't seem to get it to work. I went into Dimension Style Manager and clicked Modify. I went into Text and changed the height value but nothing changed. It kept the number I put in and when I pulled up the properties for the dimension, it said the text height was what I changed it to but the text never changed.

I read in Finkelstein's book that the text height needs to be set to zero but it doesn't really say where to do this. It shows a picture of the Dim Style Manager dialogue box but it won't let you set the text height to 0 in this location.

On another drawing I changed the text height in the Dim Style Manager and it changed all the dimension text to the new value. I would like to reproduce that but can't seem to figure it out. :ermm:

Thanks for the help :)

You have to change the height to 0 in the Text Style Manager -- then, whatever value you put in for text in the Dimension Style Manager will be multiplied by the scale factor to give you your total text height.

Example: Style = TEXT
Text Style Manager: Height = 0
Dim Style Manager: Text Height = 3/32"
Dim Style Manager: Overall Scale = 16

Result: Dimension Text Height = 1.5"

Thanks Kate. It worked. 8)

I just wish I didn't have to multiply to get the scale I want. It hurts this early in the morning. :P

It should do the multiplying for you...as long as you know your scale factor.

Dawn,

I posted a pdf upto the file manager area called scales.pdf that you may find usefull. The pdf gives you the scale factor for different drawing scales
and includes the height of text at the different drawing scales. No multiplying needed. :D

Hope it helps.

Also you may have to use UPDATE, within the dimension pull down menu, any exisitng dimensions to update to the new style.
