what i am trying to do is draw a 3d detail. then show the isometric view of the detail on the top view of my layout. so i drew somthing extruded it. now on the y plane/side view. i need to draw a circle then extrude. problem is when i go to draw on a different plane it seems as if the circle is being drawn in a different plane. ie. flat line.

this was not my original question(i figured that one) now that i read this it sounds more like a auto cad 3d question.

i may just end up drawing it in 2d

Your ucs is still on the other plane... either change it manually to view or switch ucsortho on.

How would i show the isometric view that i drew in model space with the top view of may layout in paperspace?

Have a look at the MVIEW & VIEWPORTS commands & the View toolbar :)

VIEWS toolbar... VIEWPORTS command.

... unless you've got a very different installation on MEP of course.

I use MEP and althought the 3D portion is nice, I still do almost all of my Isometric work as 2D. I'm fast at it, and it's easier then dealing with MEP's Isometric view of a 3D ductrun, lol.

This is only a suggestion, so take it has you wish, but if all you need is a simple Isometric then do it the old fashioned way. Trust me it will save you TONS of time and headache when compared to the MEP specs of an Iso view. :)

I am using autocad mep. Not revit mep. I cant seem to find how scale my viewport in paperspace.
