:cry: hi guys and gals im trying im trying to put autocad 2008 on my new laptop which has windows vista basic the ojn thing that happens is when i try ti install i get (installation ended prematuley because of an error) i have installed this program on windows xp with no problems and i have also installed autocad 2004 on my laptop with the windows vista with no problems any ideas anyone.:shock:

Hi,
can you be more specific with the error message? any numbers or references to files etc? Also look for the installation log-file and post it here for us to look at:
Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter %TEMP% and click OK.
Click View menu > Details, and then click the Date Modified column header twice so that the most recent files are listed at the top.
The log file is generally called <Product Name>.log./Petri

Copy all the files that are on the CD to a folder on your hard drive. Install off the hard drive and see what happens.

hi i copied all the files to the hard drive
but the same thing happens i get a fatal error coming up i can't understand why i can load it onto windoows xp with no problems but vista won't accept it

Does your laptop meet minimum specs for ACAD 2008?

How many times have you loaded ACAD 2008 on this or another computer?
Hate to ask, but is it a legit copy?
Is the CD damaged in any way? Perhaps it got scratched?
If it is legit, have you tried contacting your authorized AutoDe$k reseller for help?

hi i just get the windows installer starting then a grey box comes up saying fatal error

That cannot be the only error you get: be more specific!

hi after further investigation it's possible it may not be a ligit copy, if it's not i will scrap the program

go to add remove programs, and repair the program. worked for me on vista... all other software did the same thing
