OK. I know that this question falls into the category of how long is a piece of string, but all I am after is an average/estimate.

For a standard architectural project for a new build 2 storey house, taking from planning through to completion, how many man hours would you expect to be spent on a job using CAD?

thanks for any input.

Cheers

if it was traditional construction and the design was finalised i would say it would take me around 8 hours using Revit (thats going solid, not splitting it up with an hour here and there)

Full set of working drawings w/ details, elevations and such......20 to 30 hours ........or at least thats what I charge my clients on my side jobs.....

Start to finish with construction documents...40 hours. Less if some of it could be lifted from a similar type job (specs, details). Are you including door and window schedules?

Depending on the complexity of the house, the size of the house, the interaction time with the client, and research. Engineering, revisions, final drawings and electricals you can easly put 100+ hours into the project. The question as you put it is definatly how long is a string type question. There are way too many factors involved unless you can give us more details on the project.

Sorry guys, maybe I should have been a bit clearer. All I was after was a few figures that I could use to provide an estimate ROI based on a software quote.

Cheers anyway.
