v2000i Copyclip Problem

Last December I found a link, whilst looking for the answer to another problem, to an Autodesk patch that cured the copyclip/pasteclip problem I had on my v2000i. One of my colleagues has the exact same problem (sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't) but I now can't find the link in your forum. The only things I can find now seems to be for 2007 converting back to 2000, whereas I just downloaded this into my AutoCAD and I've never had a problem since. Can someone point me in the right direction again please.

I found service pack 2 for 2000i but nowhere in the read.me file does it refer to a fix for copyclip/pasteclip. Was it incorporated in the first service pack? There didn't seem to be a hotfix either. You specifically remember one solely for 2000i?

It was not service pack 2 as I already had that. Hand on heart I can't say it was for 2000i specifically, but I do remember being routed to the Autodesk site.

OK. Well there is a patch for those who use 2007 and do a "save as" back to R14 or 2000i. Is that what you're looking for?

You probably installed DWGGateway (http://www.dwggateway.com/).

I used 2000i from 2000 until August, 2008 and this is the only thing I know that will open later versions right in AutoCAD 2000i and it keeps the Copy/Paste and Wblock working.

Sorry I've been tied up. We're stuck in v2000 as our in-house software doesn't work on later versions. We have no control over what version dwg's people send us. It's not a transparent copyclip problem, it's just on some dwg's copyclip & wblock won't work. I have installed DWGGateway on my machine, but I had downloaded the copyclip patch & solved the problem before I did that. I'll try installing it on my colleagues machine & see if it works. Rather sadly installing DWGGateway doesn't cure the copyclip problem, however, my colleague is now able to open v2007 dwg's, hoorah! I'm still convinced that I found the answer in this forum. I'm begining to wish I'd done the other machines at the same time as I did mine. Hindsight is a wonderful ability.

Once they are back saved with out the Hotfix on the later version, they are corrupted and will never copy/paste or Wblock in earlier versions. You will need the original file.

My machine, which has had the patch I described, seems to copyclip anything now. the CADmen upstairs have to ask me to copyclip certain things on my machine after that everything's hunky dorey.
