I have imported a DXF from Corel and I have the file in Autocad as a DWG. Unfortunately, the lines are not all connected. Because of this I find it difficult to scale the "object" properly.
The object I am drawing is a multi-curved product from flat carbon fibre sheet which must be cut from 4 x 8 flat stock, so I need the Autocad to get the machining file.
How can I join all the lines up so that I can stretch/extend/redimension the thing?
Sorry if I am not making sense.
I am a true novice but I've spent the last three days doing tutorials, which haven't really helped in this regard.
Thanks

You could set your radius to 0 on your fillet tool,
then select the lines you wish to intersect.
when you set the radius to 0 it acts like a trim tool.

No, that doesn't seem to do it.
I have around 540 objects. I need to set the new horizontal width of the combined figure to 31 inches and the height to 17.5. I don't seem to be able to do that in any way.

Begin a new drawing and use the INSERT->BLOCK to bring your drawing containing elements to resize. When you insert the block, set the scale factor on X and Y axis as you need. Let us know the results!

ok. I have defined a rectangle of 31 by 17.5
I try to insert my shape as a block, defining x and y on screen, and damned if I can make it snap to my rectangle?
Thanks for you interest.

It seems that curves drawn in Corel and then exported as a block into AutoCAD get broken into short ugly lines. It is difficult to get them to go back to smooth profiles again.
Then when I select the entire shape, I can't easily rescale it to the exact dimensions I want. Scale is not quite right because I want to scale the x and y slightly differently, and stretch does not stretch the object.
I am getting quite frustrated. I know it is early days in learning the program for me but I need to get a job done.
The program seems to have a lot of bugs/quirks?

You can differentially scale a block object. Use the properties panel and you can specify scale factors for X and Y independently.
You may find that the best way to proceed after correctly scaling your block is simply to set running object snaps and redraw the thing using the block insert as a template. In any case, you'll need to redraw the broken up curves. :(

Save as a release 12 dwg form corel. That will be better. Also have you tried a wmf from corel ?

Inserting your drawing as a block scaled with different scale factors will help you to get the shape you wish. But it’s impossible (as I know) to work with this shape.
Convert the imported shape to a polyline.
It seems that curves drawn in Corel and then exported as a block into AutoCAD get broken into short ugly lines. It is difficult to get them to go back to smooth profiles again.
My advice:
Select one of this short lines. Convert it to polyline using PEDIT. Now you can join the other lines to this polyline. When the job seems to be finished, change the color of the polyline. It is a quick way to check your work. It may be necessaries to use the grip points to join the segments correctly.
Scale your polyline, so the horizontal dimension is as you need. Then scale it along the Oy as you wish, using the lisp routine I wrote for you (and for everybody) –check the AutoLISP section.

How about using "pljoin"(2002) and select all your lines to make it plines.

PEDIT is in 2000+ ?
