Hey all,

just wondering wether there's anyway of constraining the LENGTH of a spline in sketches? for example, if your modeling a hose of a specific length, is there any way of ensuring that it's length doesn't change?

Cheers

Are you using Routed Systems?

Inventor 11 sp3...

nothing more then that... is routed systems an add on? or an integrated feature?

will look into it now.

Inventor Professional allows you to set a specific spline length for a hose. (Routed Systems is part of Inventor Professional)

okay, yes i am aware of that, but unfortunatly i don't have access to it... so i have to do it the hard way...

so back to the original question. is there anyway to constrain the length of a spline....

Not that I am aware of.

Have you looked at rightmouse clicking the spline then selecting bowtie, place as many as you can then constrain the spline to gain control.

thanks lazer, but i know well enough how to make the spline fully constrained, i was purely wondering whether there was a way to constrain the length of a spline curve so that i could ensure that it's length doesn't exceed certain values.

i realise that it's length will depend on it's start finish point, but i don't see why you can't constrain it's length and allow its "tension" to be the variable
