I am drawing location maps for some of our buildings, and need to show railroad tracks. AutoCAD's TRACKS linetype looks more like a zipper than railroad tracks. Does anyone know a good source for a better looking railroad track linetype, or can the TRACKS linetype be modified? (it might not look too bad if the longer lines were in the track direction, and the shorter lines were perpendicular).

Don't know if this topic will help you out Paul, It does give you an idea on how to edit the files to suit your needs http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=10605&highlight=#10605
Good luck with it

I think I finally solved my problem.
1. Open Linetype Manager and click "Load"
2. In the Load or Reload Linetypes dialog box click "File"
3. In the Select Linetype File dialog box right click "acad.lin", click "Open With" and select Notepad, or another text editor(you don't want any formatting codes!)
4. Scroll down to TRACKS
5. Change "A,.15,[TRACK1,ltypeshp.shx,s=.25],.15" to "A,.25,[TRACK1,ltypeshp.shx,s=.10],.25" This increases the length of the horizontal lines, and reduces the height of the vertical lines.
6. I also changed TRACKS to TRACKS2, and changed every other vertical line to a hyphen, so the title line now reads: "*TRACKS2,Tracks2 -|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|-"
7. When I first tried this, I wasn't able to save the altered file. I finally realized I had to save it under a different name, and chose acad2.lin. I can now open acad2.lin and load TRACKS2, which looks more like a track than a zipper.
