is autocad land desktop 2006 just a supplemental add on to autocad 2006 or is it a full blown program seperate from autocad 2006? I will be using it soon (land), and i was wondering the best way i can get supplemental training, aside from the training i will get at my new job. Is the autocad 2006 bible a good bet, online training, etc.....

It is a vertical product, so you have full autocad with it, plus a heck of a lot more.

You will not need a lot more training for Land Desktop. For all intents and purposes it is acad2006, just a little more powerfull. I would suggest going through the new menu options you will have, along with acad help. You should figure out quickly all the new advantages with Land Desktop.
The main advantage, which you should recognise ( you probably won't recognise it anyway) is that Land desktop can handle calcs on the mapping grids. so no more sending hatch boundaries to 0,0 to get them them to work properly, then bringing them back to where they should be, or no more sending a polyline to 0,0 to offset it, then bringing it back.
Have fun, you will enjoy it.

thanks for your replies, what about to learn autocad 2006 / land desktop in general, autocad bible 2006? I know you mentioned before LE to do online training, such as on this website, and a seminar, i probably will not do a seminar, would autocad bible 2006 or something be better than online training, because i dont have internet at my house, or should i just play around with the program myself at home, and use the tutorials that are in the program itself. I currently use Arris 2001, its an architectural friendly cad program.

AutoCAD Bible is a very good book, if you learn well by reading and then doing, then it will only benefit you and will prove to be well worth the money. remember though, that it will only be teaching you AutoCAD, and not any of the LD functionality.
Also, check out the following link

Good luck,

A search online for tutorials will also be a good bet for learning it.
And not only do you get Land Desktop as an "add-on" for AutoCAD, but it is stacked on top of Map which is a great product in its own right.
I might mention that Land Desktop is currently being phased out and replaced with Civil 3D. You would do well to learn Civil 3D too if you have the opportunity.
