You'll certainly have your work cut out for you. Had you been using 2007 the "Loft" feature probably would have benefitted you greatly.
What year Mazda rx8 is it? I'll try to find an image to look at that will give me a better idea of what you're up against.
You wouldn't have access to a digitizing tablet now would you?

Search the 3d modeling forum as there are some great examples of cars in there.

Here's (http://home.pct.edu/%7Ejmather/content/CAD238/AutoCAD_2007_Tutorials.htm) a link I found in another 3D thread that may have tut's which could help.

I think your time would be better spent just concentrating on the wheels.
It looks like trying to do an entire car is way beyond your experience level (not to mention the capabilities of AutoCAD).
If you get the wheel done, then maybe the spindle and brake rotor, lug nuts and so on.
Students can download modern Autodesk software for free from http://engineersrule.org

Check out 3dcadbrowser.com, they have a nice RX8 on there!

Try using the edgesurf and rulesurf commands if you haven't done so already.
Another possibility would be to draw the profile of the top, one side and the front (polylines). Orient the profiles correctly in 3D (you'll have to rotate them into position). Extrude each in the proper direction then use the Intersect command to arrive at a final form. It will be rather rough in shape but it would give you the basic shape of the vehicle. It's just a thought. I'm no car designer and haven't the time or the patience to try this one out myself.
