QuickCad Drawings

Need a bit of help.

Customer has forwarded facility drawings in QuickCad Format with .CAD file extension.

I really need to be able to open these.

Is there a way to open these without QuickCad?

This is an extremely large facility and we really cannot take the time to measure and re-draw the entire facility.

I tried to upload the file but it's not a valid upload file. \

Thanks

That would be the easiest.

But, all they have available is the Quickcad version.

This customer doesn't have As builts or even the original plans for the facilities. This is a monster facility with numerous out buildings many thousands of squares of roof area and hundreds of HVAC, skylights and other penetrations that apparently are on the drawings with a total of 5 layouts.

Hopefully, someone can help.

If they still have QuickCAD they can save as a DWG.

or if someone has AutoSketch......

These are the formats they can save to and open.

In AutoSketch Release 7.0 and AutoSketch 8 software, you can open files in the following formats:
  • AutoCAD drawing file (.dwg)
  • AutoSketch (.skf)
  • AutoSketch v2.x (.skd)
  • Drafix CAD v3.x/v4.x (.cad)
  • Drawing Interchange (.dxf)
  • QuickCAD (.cad)
  • Windows metafiles (.wmf)

In AutoSketch Release 7.0 and AutoSketch 8 software, you can save files in the following formats:

  • AutoCAD 2000 DXF (.dxf)
  • AutoCAD 2000 drawing (.dwg)
  • AutoCAD R12/LT2 DXF (.dxf)
  • AutoCAD R14/LT98/LT97 DXF (.dxf)
  • AutoCAD R14/LT98/LT97 drawing (.dwg)
  • AutoSketch (.skf)
  • Autodesk drawing web format (.dwf)
  • Bitmap (.bmp, .dib)
  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
  • QuickCAD (.cad)
  • Windows metafile (.wmf)

Do they have the software? Somebody had to make them. QuickCAD can export to dxf/dwg or at least the last version I played with several years ago could.

If the above posts don't solve it there may be a third party converter out there.

Nick

Well, I have been looking, but haven't found one yet. Looks like it is only QuickCAD and AutoSketch.

Thanks for the responses,

I also was checking for third party stuff also and found nothing.

I may have a line on someone in our office that "Might" have QuickCad on her home PC.

We'll see.

I'll let you know.

  • 3 years later...

Hi people,

I have the same problem with not being able to open a .CAD file. I have searched all day long through all forums and converters but it seems that the only way to open it is to use autosketch or quickcad. could someone of you be so kind and release me from this annoying situation and convert 3 .cad files into .dwg??

thanks a lot,

miri
