We are having a problem where text is not plotting on color plots that are longer 6'. The color plotter that we are using is an HP Designjet 4500ps. If these same drawings are sent to our black and white plotter the text is there. Text also shows up on color plots that are under 6'. Our current version of AutoCAD is AD2007.

Any suggestions??

What kind of plot-style are you using? What color are you trying to print - and - does the printer have that color available (ie: not out of ink)?

The text color is black and there is black ink. Other objects that are black are plotting, so I do not think it is a problem with the pen or pen assignments. Everything plots fine if the drawing is under 6 feet, but as soon as we plot something longer than that, no text.:?

I do not think this is from the AutoCAD end. I would look into the plotter settings and maybe the driver.

In the plot dialog box try to set the data to be processed in computer rather than in the plotter.

I was able to get a plot yesterday that had text by changing my plot settings:D. Thank you for that suggestion. I would also like to try setting the data to be processed in the computer rather than the plotter, but I am not sure how to do this. I am fairly new to supporting AutoCAD at our site. So, if you could provide some more detail on this it would be very helpful. Thanks.

Go to Plot and select your plotter, then select Properties>Custom Properties, then select the Custom Properties button and go to the Advanced tab in the Process document section select "...In printer". That is for a HP1050PLUS, yours might be similar.

I still cannot find this setting... I attached a screen shot of my settings if you have a minute to take a look. I am not familiar with these settings or the option to set this at the computer instead of the plotter. I looked at the plotter settings too since it is a networked plotter, but still could not find the "..In Printer". Thanks.

What is in the rest of the properties tabs? You could try searching on HP for an updated driver, also.

Changing the print quality in the Properties for the printer and saving a new PC3 file resolved this issue. Thanks for the help.
