We've had a few discussions here regarding graphics cards optimized for AutoCAD. In the past, cards relying on the OpenGL graphics API were proven to be superior to all others. However, AutoDesk is moving away from OpenGL and embracing Direct3D. This is particularly true of AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk 3ds Max 9. And I quote: "AutoDesk is committed to Direct3D because it provides the best technology platform for delivering needs of 3D computer-aided design...".
For those of you who graphic performance plays a key role in the selection of a video card I urge you to read the white paper referenced in the link provided below. Pay particular attention to pages 3 and 15.
