Chasing Waterfalls

Hello I am looking to place a water feature within the centre of a scene and then to animate it!

In theory it should look like that of a fountain with the water overflowing from the top and falling down.

I am just about to start this but thought any input from the beginning would be helpful,

Any Ideas would be very much appreciated,
