Yes, I have occasionally seen this error. It's a problem with the email server and has nothing to do with the forum. Your post is made (as you note) but the forum fails to send email notifications to those users who are watching the topic because of a problem with the email server.
I am not entirely happy with the hosting of the forum at the moment. There have been a number of problems since we moved. Generally the siteand forum have been much faster than previously but this has also been rather erratic. Users have reported speed problems over the last couple of weeks but it now appears to have stabilised again.
I'm not intending to change hosts again any time soon because of the work involved in doing so. I am, however, trying my best to resolve issues as they arise with the current host.

Happened again its not that important to me,the email notification as its a regular habbit of mine visiting CADTutor each day.I have also noticed the changes in speed from day to the other.Remember some of the hassle youve had with server hosts before.Ive also noticed that Im getting unread posts marked, but then view the post and realise its my own that Ive just made.Ive only just gone over to firefox, maybe this might have something to with it?

Firefox shouldn't cause you any problems although you may notice inconsistecies if you are flipping between IE and Firefox because they each use their own cookie for forum settings.
I am hoping that the server problems will settle down with time. The email server seems to be fine most of the time. This is the second period (lasting a few days) where there are problems. I reported the problem last time it happened but Fasthosts were unable to find anything wrong.
Changes in forum speed seem to be related to the database server. The main site (not databse driven) is unaffected. It also seems likely that the slowdown happens at peak times. It's very fast right now (Sunday evening).
I am keeping my eye on the situation and keep you updated.

I was usign Firefox but I was having so many problems with it I moved up to the Mozilla Suite. That seemed to have fixed most of them.

Mozilla is a free package also.
The Mozilla suite wraps the browser and the e-mail client up into one package.
It was just that I got so fed up of the "If you are having problems please download Mozilla and verify the problem alos exists in Mozilla before filing a report..." I thought sod it, I might as well change to Mozilla and be done with it.
Once I changed over, things got a lot better so I've stuck with Mozilla ever since

Firefox is slower to load than IE but once loaded, it can be faster to display sites and of course you have all the bonus stuff like tabbed browsing.
It is worth bearing in mind that IE has been so dominant for so long that many sites are designed to be viewed in IE alone. This means that some sites will not look exactly the same in Firefox or they may not even load at all (Firefox does have some problems with JavaScript).
It also has to be said that Firefox (and Mozilla) are standards compliant and IE is not. We should therefore be supporting developments at Mozilla and hope that Microsoft take not and get their standards compliance sorted out so that all pages will look the same in all browsers.
For your information, the CADTutor Forum looks and acts the same in both IE and Firefox so you wont miss out on anything if you choose to use one browser or another.
