Autocad Map 2009 question

I don't know if this is the correct forum for this question, but can't see where else I should ask.

We have a problem in that we currently take OS map tiles into Autocad, in NTF format, using Longdin & Browning software.

OS have stopped supplying this type of data and we now have to try to extract the same data from our corporate GIS system.

One option we are looking at is buying Autocad Map 2009 which says in the publicity handouts that it can directly access ArcSDE databases.

I need to know if this is true or whether in order to connect to the database there has to be a plugin running on the database server.

As the database stores the data in propietrary SDE format this could be a costly solution.

we asked our GIS people if they could host the Mapmaster data in SDO format but they have said that is not an option.

Thanks for the quick response. I am not up to speed with the Oracle setup, or the server setup. Can you tell me if the connection to the ArcSDE server needs a plugin loaded on the server.

Not that I know of. I'm not a GIS tech so I can't tell you for sure. I have dabbled around with it a little in the past. I was able to download ArcGIS shape files and connect to them without any extra plugins. Same thing with image files. I don't believe you'll need any plugins for connecting to your data as Map has the functionality built in.
