Hi,
Can you save files back to a previous Inventor Version in Inventor 2008 or 2009

The answer is, NO.

Although you cannot save down to earlier native version you can save parts or assemblies as STEP to read in ealier versions but the feature history will be lost. You might be able to recover most of the features in Inventor 11 (or 2008 from 2009) with this add-in http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/feature_recognition/
