Has anyone had the problem of opening AutoCAD and receiving an error message that it wasn't installed right, even though you've been using it forver, then upon opening it looks nothing like it did? The background is gray and a grid is displayed and the UCS icon is the #D blue, green, and red. Even if I return to Classic AutoCAD it doesn't help. ANy suggestions?? Thanks!

Yes, it sometimes happens... mysteriously.
Hopefully, you've saved your profile... and can very quickly get things back to where they were.
Profiles can be saved via the OPTIONS menu, on the PROFILES tab. When you have everything set up as you like it, you can preserve that environment by giving that profile a name... then EXPORTing it (as an *.arg file) to a safe place on your hard drive (and to a backup location).
If you have previously saved/EXPORTed your profile, you should be able to go to OPTIONS (right-click on the command line in AutoCAD to get a pop-up with OPTIONS at the bottom), then the PROFILES tab. Along the right-hand side is an option to IMPORT. From there, find your saved *.arg file (your profile name will be in place of the asterisk/wildcard), and click okay to complete the import. Then, be sure to highlight your newly imported profile name on the list at left, and click the SET CURRENT button. Your settings/environment should then be restored as you're accustomed to seeing them.
If you have never saved your preferred profile, unfortunately, I believe you'll have to start from scratch to get it all back. Once you do.... be sure to save/EXPORT that profile to a secure location so you won't have to worry about it again!!
Good luck...
