I have received a vendor drawing in .dwg format of a gearbox, with several views on the sheet.

Some, not all, of the views have a gear cover shown as a companent assembled to the main casting.

When I highlight and copy a single view of the gearbox, to add it to my master design general arrangement drawing, it carries with it the other views of the cover as well, and i don't seem to be able to delete the surplus views.

Obviously they are locked in some way, but i cannot find the correct reference of the tool I need to unlock the views.

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated, thanks.

Can you post a screenshot? I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that you are either in model space with the drawing area separated into viewports showing a 3D gearbox from different angles in each viewport. Or you're in paper space looking at the layout area showing the gearbox from different angles in each viewport. Either way, you are looking at the same, single gearbox, shown from different angles. So when you highlight it in order to copy, it appears that you are highlighting more than one gearbox, but it is actually just the one gearbox which is being viewed from different angles in each viewport.

But again, this is just a guess. Without seeing what you're working with, I can't say for sure.

The other possiblity could be that this is an isometric drawing of a gearbox and maybe all the views are contained within a block. In that case you could just use the EXPLODE command to break up the block.
