I've just finished setting up Acad Map 3D 2009. Was a bit daunting at first, but turned out to be relatively easy. And I now have 2009 looking the same as my old 2008 as far as drop down menus and toolbars go.

So...if anyone wants any help getting it set up, just yell and I hope I can help. :D o:)

So tell us Alan...How goes it with the new package?

I've only really started using it yesterday, but so far I'm pretty happy with it. I guess as you keep using it, you'll find all these nice things about it.

One thing I noticed, as soon as I selected something, a small properties dialogue would pop up. I thought that was pretty cool. But then I inadvertantly turned that feature off, and haven't figured out how to turn it back on yet.

All in good time, I guess.

I might be wrong, but the Between The Lines post is talking about rolling over objects, but Alan's talking about selecting objects. As I say, I might be wrong (I often am...), but if it is specific to selecting it could be something to do with dynamic input settings?

You are probably quite right :)
So, I found this by our very own rkmcswain (http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/member.php?u=337) :
http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/2008/02/autocad-2009-in-2-minutes.html

Looking down that page, I see some variables such as:
QPLOCATION
and
QPMODE
I would hazard a guess that one of those will bring back the quick properties when selecting entities.

<edit> I also found this to be a little interesting on the topic:

Well, I guess only half right, looks to me it's not DYN related from the links you posted, but it feels good to be at least half right for a change :)

Thanks, troops...it was QPMODE.

That all looks rather interesting. Unfortunately, we don't have the time to explore it all, so we live and learn as we work away.

aha......there's a Quick Properties button on the task bar underneath the command line.

See, you just keep working away and you'll pick up all these things eventually. :D

Further to that Quick Properties feature.....

You can configure it for all different entity types to show what data you want displayed. o:) :geek:

No more doing a list on an entity, just select it and change whatever aspect you want to change immediately from within the Quick Properties box. To get out of the Quick Properties box, just hit the ESC key.:D

Sorry, Tiger....you are now yesterday's news, my new big love is the Quick Properties feature. :P

And it doesn't keep hurling salmon at me.

Thanks Alan- keep posting you findings!

...I'm sure my copy will be here soon, so I want you to find the problems first...

I just discovered a thingy called a "steering wheel". It aids with navigation in the drawing, and it follows the cursor around, so it's always there ready. One of the features on it is ORBIT. Just wait till you try that one.

It throws the whole drawing into a 3D Perspective view, that can be rotated/twisted however you want, viewpoint can be lifted or lowered, all just by moving the mouse around. Truly amazing.

This is just a perspective of a group title developement on the side of a mountain. Just me playing around with it, so a bit rough....

you can do the same thing with c3d2008 by holding down shift - clicking and holding down the scroll button and moving your mouse
