If I have a user working on a drawing that is xrefed into the one I am working on.
I have the user close the drawing so that i would be able to open it. However I still
can not open the drawing even after they close out.? The user has to reboot his computer in order for me to be able to open the xref drawing.???

This is a long-shot, but have you tried purging the x-ref? It may be too large. Hopefully this might help.

in your options make sure you have demand load xrefs: set to Enabled with copy...see if that helps anything....

Thanks.
But the user is opening the base AutoCAD File not an xref. then they close the file and I have another user trying to open the same drawing and they get the error that the drawing is still open even after the person has closed out of the drawing.???

Are you having a similar problem with other files... say word doc's? It does sound like an operating system problem that's causing a file to remain locked even tho' no-one's in it.

The problem seems to be just with the AutoCAD Files.???

We had a similar problem not so long ago, and it was painful.. There was something wrong with our SQL server and Info Tech sorted it out for us. I can find out from him tomorrow and get back to you. When you log out of the original file, the log script was still seeing you to have the file open. We had to delete the user name from this log in order to solve the problem. It has worked for us. If you have rebooted the server the problem may return. Just repeat the same way and it will stay like that. I will find out more.. TBC..

You could try navigating to the folder, and after he closes the drawing, see if its leaving behind a .DWL file...If it is, try to delete that and try to open the drawing again.
