I am trying to create a tool for visitors to my website which would enable them to use predefined autocad blocks and manipulate them such that they can create their own kitchen, basement, or bathroom design. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can by accomplished?

I think you'll find it hard for non CAD users to use a similar style of program on the net to design their own kitchens, bathrooms, etc...

Is that what you're asking?

Sorry I can't help, someone might... and welcome to the forum!

That's what I'm asking, and yes I know it's going to be a daunting task, but I'm hoping I can find something simple, basically just something where visitors can drag blocks into place and get a visual. Thanks for the warm welcome!

You're welcome!

Another question which might aide others in replying, is whether you're looking to do this in 3D or using a basic plan... I would think you'll have to get dimensions from them and draw the basic room layout so they will have a perimeter to work within.

As for getting a CAD system onto a webpage... I'm really not sure how that could work, unless you're using a free program, ie non AutoCAD? You might be better off looking at some programming rather than a CAD specific suite?

Just looking to use a 2D plan and I agree with the level of difficulty in integrating acad in a website, programming might be required. My goal is to have it completely self reliable, an interface where they can draw out there own perimeter and pull in blocks and set them in place.

It might help to have a grid system set up for alignment purposes. The blocks can snap to the grid.

Couldn't you do this using Flash? 'Course that really depends on how much Flash you know and if you have it.
