You can always go to http://www.cben.net and download some, or type into google:

"free+materials+maps+textures" (<<< cut and paste it exactly as is)

into the window and see the thousands of free sites for them. Royalty free. You can also make your own materials in Photoshop as mentioned, but it is quicker and easier to download someone elses hard work, and then edit it using Photoshop... I am Lazy...:P

I've also used Torrents to grab a bunch of textures. I have oooooodles of textures and materials, not that I use it that often. :lol:
