Can anyone direct me to a good website which explains in detail how to deal with intersecting alignments along with corridors. I know how to create a simple corridor, but I want to use corridors to model intersections.

I realise I need to create alignments along the TC's between the BCR's or something, but I just struggle with how to piect it all together.

Thanks for any help.

It really depends on what sort of drainage scheme you'll be using, but you run your standard road template down the roadways up to the pc/pt of the returns and run profiles of each pc/pt and use a separate template (basically 1/2 a template) targeting either the cl profile or the eop profile.

There is a little ditty along with a couple of sample files of an intersection at civil3d.com if you want to check that out. You'll have to create an account in order to read the whole thing and download the files. Here are links:

If you need more help just holla. If I get ambitious I may try to throw together a video tut on it to help you out.

Thank you so much for replying. I signed up at the website you suggested, and logged in, but I'm at work, so I don't have much time to go over anything at the moment. I'm gonna go over your suggestions tonight. Thanks again.

Sure no problem. Glad to help. Intersections seem a little tough at first, but once you understand how to bring them together it's really rather simple. Report back here to give us an update on your progress.:)

I tried the sample drawing I found at http://www.civil3d.com/2006/10/sample-drawing-for-intersections-and-culdesacs/

I created my own drawing that closely resembles it. I'm really close on the idea, but for some reason, my intersections are still funny. The pavement width for Baseline4 and Baseline5 is a constant 12.0'. I can't seem to get the pavement to extend to the road centerlines like they do in the sample drawing.

I've tried to attach my drawing in a zipped folder, but it was 1.19MB--too big. I could e-mail you the drawing or something.

I have baselines for the EOP between the curb returns. I guess I'm just struggling to get an assembly to extend from those baselines to the baselines at the centerlines of the intersecting roads. In those particular "regions" (I hope I've used that word correctly), the asphalt width remains constant around the two regions that occur from curb return to curb return.

I even got in trouble with my wife for coming home too late from work last night just trying to figure this stuff out.

Thanks for your help, and any more suggestions you can give.

Hey, I fugured it out. I wasn't using the "Target" feature in the Corridor Properties window to selec the Target baseline (or alignment). It works great now. Thank you a ton for your help.

Good job! Maybe you'd like to upload a screen shot of your corridor.

I would like to. How do I get a screen shot uploaded. I tried just doing a print screen, and then pasting it into Paint, and then saving it as a JPEG, but, the file size was still too big and it wouldn't upload. Any suggestions?

You might need to crop it a little to reduce the size.

I did create a similar corridor to the one in your suggested website, however, I've just included a screen shot of the corridor I did for my project. The contours look fabulous compared to the approach I've used up until now.

I found that in my case, in stead of drawing a seperate alignment and profile for all the curb returns in an intersection, it was easier to just draw a continuous alignment for each Back of Curb, that goes all the way around each block, and then draw a profile of it. I could then "target" my FG CL from there. The two attachments should match up if one is placed above the other. I am aware that one of the intersections doesn't have a complete corridor, but it was close enough in my case.

Thank you again so much for your help.
