i have a drawing which is just under 5 megabites, which it should be about 500kb
i deleted all the extra text, saved in 2007 format, purged, purged regapps, audited (which is taking a loooong time with 207,000 objects) just ninished auditing, no errors found.
all layers unfrozen
all xrefs & images detached detached
EDIT:holy crap!!! now it went up to 13mb!!! after detaching!! but much faster... i cannot understand....
what can i do???

sometimes this just happens. A lot of "undo" information is stored while you are working but doesn't seem to release the space until much later. You could try WBLOCK the whole drawing to a new file. This often strips a file back to its basics.

it sounds like you may well have a lot of autocad points or something like that within your drawing.
check what your DDTYPE settings are; if necessary change them to make points visible.
failing that, hold down CTRL key and simultaneously press A (this will select all entities for that current space). that should give you more of an idea of what your drawing contains.

wasnt points...
did the ctrl+a and had a lot of text not showing and erased that. (with the quick select)
still drawing size was big,
now WBLOCK worked :)
i have no idea why though :?

Blocks, RegApps, Layer Filters, etc.
All sorts of stuff can pollute the drawing.
Purge the drawing regularly to help keep this stuff from growing.

Is this an ADT drawing? If so I agree with Mcswain and call layer filters as the culprit.

hmmm... i dont konw with what it was created, i recieved the drawing from the consultant and i have autocad 2007 full.
and i'm sure i cleaned all the regapps, filters etc. regapps i had about 38, and no layer filters, all blocks were exploded but that wasnt the culprit since now the drawing is ok with all the exploded blocks after the wblock
