View Full Version : How do I plot 3d Iso views with title block and border?

As title states, Im having issues with it. I want to plot a 3d exploded view and full assembly view with my title block and border. How do I accomplish this? Ive tried doing model space and paper space stuff but it confuses me. When I insert my 3d model into my title block, it comes up as a top view. When I press one of my Iso views, the title block switch's with it.

I looked into layout 1(paper space) and adding it as a viewport but the title block appears in it and vice versa. What should I block and/or what should I insert first? What should I do?

Im not too familiar with model space and paper space but ive been reading up on it.

If it comes down to where its too complicated, would it be easier if I just print my sheet with the title block and border then run it through the printer again printing my 3d model by itself scaled to fit my sheet? This seems to be my stupid way of going at it to solve my problem.

TIA

Vince

I can't think of the commands off the top of my head and there's probably tutorials lurking on it around here somewhere, but here's the gist of what you're looking for:

1.) Select your title block / borders.
2.) COPYCLIP (CTRL+C) or Cut (CTRL+X) them.
3.) Go to Layout 1 (Paper Space)
4.) PASTECLIP (CTRL+V) and position the title block wherever you want it on the paper
5.) If there's a viewport on the drawing, select it and use the grip edits to make the size you want; If there isn't a viewport there, create one (refer to the help file - but there's a toolbar that makes it easy)
6.) Double-Click inside the viewport to set yourself to model space in the viewport (this is essentially like cutting a hole in the paper, and looking at the model space through that hole); You'll see the toggle button on the bottom that used to say PAPER now says MODEL
7.) ZOOM EXTENTS to view everything. Choose the Iso view you want.
8.) Manually ZOOM if necessary to get the desired view.
9.) Double-Click back on the paper outside the viewport to go back to the paperspace
10.) Lock the viewport (open the properties window, select just the viewport - find the option "Viewport Locked" and set it to "Yes")

Let me know if you can follow this. I'll try to clarify if need be.

/waits for somebody to post the tutorial I didn't bother looking for

Thank you.

I'll try that once I get a chance. Work is killing me and this is for school.
