How do I get my drawing to appear in the Layout space? I can't figure out why my model is not showing up in my layout.

In order to see your model in a layout, you must first create a viewport.

In layout -
- pulldown the VIEW menu
- and then the VIEPWORTS cascade
- insert desired number
- click and drag where you want them
- double click to activate a viewport
- each viewport behaves like it's on it's own
- don't edit in objects in LAYOUT view ports
- always edit a model in MODEL view/space/tab

Very amusing fuccaro. There was a problem with the mail server that caused an error when posting (now resolved) - hence Mr.T's multiple postings (now deleted).

If so, please excuse my! I remember that it was not for the first time Mr T appears with multiple posts. So he is just out of luck!
In the future I will think twice before I send ironic messages...

No, don't apologise - I quite enjoy the banter.
Mr.T is obviously keen to get his point across. Maybe we should call him Mr.TTT from now on

I think Mr.T explains very nice and understandable. The novice users should not be pressed to spend a life time as a novice with half info.
Well done and please keep it that way Mr.T. I am reading your posts and find them very useful.
A novice impression.

Thanks,
I have just been posting up help for cad users
on the 'autodesk.autocad.drafting' newsgroup
This one is drawing 3D pipes. I recomend solids versus surfaces
here. An example below.

Original complete file (2k format)
http://www.eezylearn.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/pipe.dwg
I just luvvvvv 'extrude along a path'
I drew it using
- for the flange
2d ARRAYed circles
EXTRUDE them to 3D
SUBTRACTed the little ones to create the
holes SUBTRACTEd the inner hole
- for the pipe
as above for the flange but EXTRUDed along
a SPLINE squiggly 'path'.
For more help post up, why not try the tutorials
on 3D solid modelling using extrude and revolve on
my website.
Here is a post to help someone draw a roof tile easily.

Totally agree. I was a novice a year ago and knew absolutley neiet, zero, nuthin', zilch, etc in 3D. Although competent at 2D, except auto lithpzss.
Unfortunatley I did not know of this type of help forum. Just switched on and strugled away, trial, error, blood sweat, tears. Then I had to teach it !
