CARRERA SSC ~ be warned

Carrera SSC have gone BUST ~ BEWARE because they will not tell you this over the phone.
Nor are they complying with their warranty claims or have been for the last few months. If you've been unlucky enough to purchase one of their warranties or PC's in the last few months then you too, like me, could be up the creek without a paddle.


mind you judging by the service I've recieved from them over the last year, I can't really say I'm surprised.

...and not for the first time I'm afraid.

The original Carrera company went bust about 3 years ago leaving a trail of disaster in its wake. I must admit that when they started up again calling themselves Carrera SSC, I was very sceptical. Seems I was right.

Hendie, I'm sorry to hear you were caught up in this. I guess that when the dust clears, there will be a moral for us all to learn. :(

yeah unfortunately when I was looking for a PC, I had very limited funds and they were offering the best deal at the time. And I was going on PC magazine write ups about customer care, backup and build quality !
In the past I've always built my own PC's but it had been so long since the last one and I had lost touch with hardware advances, I was worried about making an expensive mistake :lol: (never again !)

Luckily I got the PC ~ it took about 6 weeks to arrive and then about another 3 weeks before I was actually able to boot it up due to Carrera having incorrect disc imaging, sending me wrong discs, not including authorisation codes etc etc. Luckily the only problem I have is now is a dead DVD player but there may well be lot of other people out there unaware of the latest state of the company.

To be honest, I am not surprised in the slightest that they have gone under ~ they had a completely shoddy approach to customers and just didn't seem to know what they were doing.

Lets hope they haven't left too many poor souls in the lurch
