Hello everyone,
Can anyone tell me how can i change the co-ordinate system in inventor 9 once i have made the assembly?
The thing is that i want to do some stress analysis in ansys software & there is some problem in doing that. But if i can interchange the axis it would solve the problem. i mean x-axis changes to y-axis, y-axis changes to z-axis & z axis changes to x-axis.

Unground the grounded part and apply appropriate Mate constraints between the formerly grounded part's origin workplanes and the assembly workplanes. If you can't figure it out zip and attach what you have.

What JD is saying is that you can't change co-ordinate systems...
you just re-orientate everything relative to the co-ordinate origin.
JD - what about parts? if I import a *.sat or *.iges file it's appears to be set by the program which created said sat or iges file. can i re-orientate the "base" once it's in the part?

Reorient in iam and derive iam into ipt and break link...
if you want to clean up the browser then copy to construction environment, delete the derived and copy back to model environement...
or
somewhere there is an add-in that allows rotation and translation of imported geometry relative to the origin. I think it is in the SDK but not sure. I have never worried about top, front ... it's all relative.

yep.... just wondering... so far i haven't had a case where i couldn't re-create the sat/iges myself, but thought it might be handy to know...
