evening all!

i've just started learning autocad R14 (or any cad program for that matter) and really appreciate the tutorials available on the site. ive just done the perspective/walkthru tutorial, but have one question:

how to make my walkthrus rendered (or at the very least shaded? - i've figured out how to render my viewports, and saved them via the mslide command. but when i run the script, i only get the viewports playing in wireframe. i tried rendering the views into the render window and saving as sld (instead of bmp) files. although they appear in my root folder as sld files, i cannot access them thru vslide (cannot see them in the folder) so i assume that saving the image in the render window as a sld file is not a valid command? ???

any suggestions or tricks? many thanks!

by the way, thanks for creating this super resource dave, and all who contribute to the forums!

OK, there's some bad news and some bad news :-/.

You can't create slides of rendered views in AutoCAD :(.

I know, if only...
Actually it does work for shaded views but that's not much better than wireline. To be honest, I gave up using the slide and script method of presentation some time ago. My current simplest method is to render the images I want to file and then display them using a PowerPoint presentation. This works really well and is much less effort than writing script files etc.

...and there i was last night going WOW! AutoCAD's so cool! :)

another question please:

when i use the ddview command and save a new view, where/which folder does autocad r14 save it to?

When you use the DDVIEW command to create a Saved View, the information about the view is saved with the drawing file - it's not written to an external file. It simply enables you to go back to that same view quickly without having to set it up again.

Hiya mate! Well basically i'm new to CAD too mate however I can tell you that if you can get your hands on a later version of AutoCAD i.e. 2007 that I'm using, you can do walkthroughs!!! whoooo! CAD2007 does the well impressive walkthroughs, however.... and its a big however! You need NASA to Create the video for you as its caning my CPU!! Of course you could lower the resolution and create a decent walkthrough without ageing a year!
