I don't understand what is going on, I turned off "constraint redundant analysis" (which helped, but now its back to 2 minute mate times again) . I've got an assembly that is only about 50 parts and it takes literally 2 minutes (I timed it three different times) to put screw in a hole. I cleard up all model errors.
The computer is a OptiPlex GX280 (Autodesk tells me its a pretty bad computer), 2GB Ram, 256MB Quadro FX540.
My settings are attached
Update: I turned off all adaptivity, I didn't want to but it was giving me too many problems.

All looks fine, I have the same settings as you, can you post the model?, I will time it on my computer for you.

I figured it out! If I try and move parts in a sub-assy that is inside of the main assy, then it thinks and thinks and thinks (for exactly 2 minutes)... but if I edit the sub assy then it is happy.
Thx!

It will want to update so as you say editing by opening the sub then saving is better.

You should still not see 2 minute delays. Once you have set a design turn off all Adaptivity. Alos turn off the Contact Solver if using Contact Sets, once the motion is verified. If you have sub-assemblies that are supposed to have motion right click on the sub and select flexible.
I suspect there is something more going on that is causing the delay.

Definitely not supposed to do that!
