2048MB DDR2 RAM,
100GB HARD DRIVE,

Personally I would up the above. The RAM will be sufficient, but the more the better.
And a 100GB hard drive would also be sufficient, but ideally would be larger. It is amazing how quick these things fill up.

Obviously, it is down to budget, like I said, sufficient for the job.

EDIT: And have a serious look at the graphics card.
With ACAD09 and if you eventually load Vista you will not regret paying extra for an upgrade.

Hard drives are not really an issue these days. I run my laptop on a small HD, but, I have a 320 external that I "archive" onto... my applications and current "projects" are on the laptop, everything else goes on my external HD. Its great for housekeeping, and so small that it just fits anywhere, and fast enough to work from should I need to (and when it fills up, I'll just buy another o:) ).... but yes, I could do with more RAM

Onboard video gets its "juice" from RAM therefore you'll notice a performance hit. Better to have a dedicated graphics chip.

Thanks LCE, JONSEY & REMARK for your inputs.

I don't know much about 3d & rendering so wan't be using it for that. Do u still think, i will need dedicated graphic chip?

Monitor is bit small for my liking but I will be hooking it to larger monitor when ever I am in office, so shouldn't be a problem.:)

I would always upgrade from the standard graphics chip to a dedicated. As I said, just ACAD09 and Vista are hungry enough on the graphics side that you will benefit even if there is no 3D/Rendering being done.

I understand your viewpoint, but I think I forgot to mention I will be using LT2008 on it (no budget for full acad:( )

but I guess I will think about graphic chip & will talk to the IT guy.

CAD programs are a lot like game programs...memory intensive. If you get a dedicated graphics card you will not regret it.
