Got a few problems atm, one of the drawings at work has been done in Acad 3d (VERY rare where i come from). The trouble i'm having is using the 3d models in drawings... at the last place i worked at we did this all the time and had very few problems. this time i'm trying to use view ports to show the model, and just using the visual styles to get the styles i want, however no matter what settings i tried i couldn't get a proper iso view (no hidden detail) 'cause i couldn't turn off the facet edges with out having jagged curved surfaces, and i couldn't use isolines because i couldn't hide obscured detail.

SO, i tried to create the drawing views using the AMcreateview command, and that worked fine.. all was well and happy, but i saved and re-opened the file and all the AM views were gone.... non existant, they didn't show up in the ambrowser or anywhere.

Now the company i work for has the program riddled with custom code etc, but i asked the guy in charge of all that stuff, and he said there's no reason for the code to prevent the amviews being saved...

has anyone got any suggestions??? please????

All I can suggest is that you check any .bak files, otherwise I think it sounds like they're gone sorry. :(

wha???

The problem i'm having has nothing to do with bak files... if i create a 3d solid in model, then show it in layout using AMDwGCREATE then the drawing view is gone when i save and re-open.

I've raised the query with our local support tech office, and they have no solution, so they're forwarding the problem on to autodesk.

I have had a similar issue where the contents of the view disappear but related dimensions stay put. zooming in and performing a regen work for that, but if the view is not showing in the browser i don't think it'll help.

Have you checked for updates / service packs? that solved my last issue and it seems to be the solution nobody ever suggests!

I wasn't suggesting that the problem lies with the .bak files, moreso that a solution might be found there...

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with AMDWGCREATE, I guess it wasn't brought in until after 2006... sorry I couldn't help.
