Is 14,000 parts a lot in Inventor?
How about a quad-core system? CADalyst Magazine just published an article in the May 2008 issue entitled "Today's Power - Quad-Core Workstations". The article, in print anyway, starts on page 14. They reviewed systems by Xi, HP, Polywell and Velocity Micro. Prices ranged from a low of $2,795 to a high of $5,499 (US). Check it out.

OK. Guess I'll ask again. Is 14,000 parts considered a lot or is it normal? What would the file size of the drawing be?

It is quite big.
A full plant assembly.
I have heard of more then that.
The memory occupied when the drawing is open is about 5gb.

Would the system benefit from dual PCIe video cards? I've heard of and have actually seen one picture of such a system but I'm not quite sure how it works. Didn't SGI use a similar technology?
