View Full Version : Inventor to .sat

So here's where I'm at.
I have Inventor LT, it can save a copy as a .sat (for parts) which is essentially what I want.
However, I need it to be able to export the lines, keypoints (nodes, what have you) and have them available for importing into ANSYS. Now, I have done a simple "draw a line" and tried to import it into ANSYS, however, no points, lines, or anything really show.

Curious, will this only be able to work in the 3d realm, or did I manage to miss reading something?

Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry I don't quite understand the question, when you say you have drawn a line? what else have you done? have you closed it and extruded it?

Just drawn a line.
What I'm trying to do is make a fully 2d drawing. The purpose is to import it into ansys and have just that, lines. No areas, no depths, nothing of the sort.
Just lines.

When Save As type *.sat be sure to click Options and select Include Sketches

It's checked.
I figured out what it was though for anyone having the same issue.
In ANSYS when importing a SAT, make sure that the type specified is not SOLID, make it ALL in the GUI or in the command line make sure the type is set to ALL.

Thanks for your help though, on checking the export options I found out it was on the import options side, d'oh!
