Hello

Appart from asking for assistance I also wanted to find out how somewhat experienced people found the transition from SolidWorks 2007 to 2008.

For example, as silly as it sounds, I spent 40 min trying to figure out where on earth is the good ol autodimension button. I double checked the manual (which is irritating as it is virtually unchanged, showing icons that no longer exist) and tried the alternative "DimExpertManager" without any luck.

I still don't know how to do it, nor do my colleagues (at least thats what they told me  )

SolidWorks 2007 is very easy to use and everything seemed logical (almost) I just want to get on with my work but get stuck on these little things that cost a lot of time and thus money.

Had anyone else experienced the same problem?

Oh, and does anyone know where that damn autodimension button?

From what I have read on the internet you are not the only one who has found SW08 a step backwards. I would think once you get the hang of the new interface it will get better.
Keep us posted:wink:

Yeah, its probably better but not until the UI is sorted and all myshortcuts configured. I also hope someone can tell me where the autodimension button is too. I've continued with my work now but I'll need that feature before Tuesday :)

Well, I guess there are no SolidWorks 2008 users here :(
(help was the first thing I checked obviously but it states the dumbest thing i.e. .....2: select the Autodimension tab...WHERE!?!?!?! and NO illustration is in the manual on its new placement)

:) Glad you got it in the end.

We have a few people using Solidworks here but I don't think any use 2008:huh:

I use 08. You tried DimXpert but you must not know how to use it because it does autodimension after you add your datums.

As far as the UI of 08, it is different and a lot of "streamlining" happened between 07 and 08. From what I have read, 2009 will not be much different than 08 except they will be fixing a lot of the complaints from people.

Yeah I noticed there is a lot of "streamlining" i.e. scratching the head and sighing. I won't be getting 2009 until I see users confirming that it is rock solid. I've learned my lesson. If there is a SP released within 1 month of 2009 ver..I'm going to wait even longer.
