3ds Max on Vista

Anyone know where i can get something that explains how to install MAX on Vista Home premium?

I know its probaly simple but I just get an error when trying to open max 8?

Any ideas?

I haven't tried it myself, but everything I've read, leads me to believe that Max, (Other than the latest version), is just not compatible with Vista at this time. One source said that you just need an update for DirectX 10 from Microsoft. But I don't know how reliable that source is?

you could try to run it as an administrator...right click for properties over the program icon and tick the appropriate boxe...you could also try to change the compatibility mode too to see if that works...

but just note that the above has no guarantee as max 8 was probably not coded to run on this o/s...
