I've just set cad bloke number 1 on a mission to create a company standard .ctb file. but cad bloke number 2 says that its a waste of time as our HP Designjet 500 doesn't have pens and therefore won't print as he's arranging it.
He's going by colour dependant to how thick the lines are.
Is Cad bloke number 2 correct in his thinking. Up till now we've always selected 'none'.
What are the pros and cons of both.

'ctb' is colour dependant plot style. and I have always used it at all the offices I worked & never had problme in printing with any priter.

Im not sure about bloke#1 on what he's up to.
but as for bloke#2, setting up the colours to correspond to line thicknesses may cause conflict with different cad users in your firm in terms of layers, especially when you have many draftsmen ^_^, most people can be very picky when using colors for their layers. this is just my insight coz we had that problem with us before. We just settled to leaving line thicknesses to be setup in the layers and the ctb file setup to print screening of certain colors.

Having a solid company standard for layer settings (colors, linetypes, etc) is critical to maintaining a consistant product.
Too though, the CTB needs to be made so it will work for all users...
