Hello!
Problem is simple-
I'm working with research project now, and I must use orthophoto... Orthophoto is with extension --> *.ECW ; Problem is that when any *.ECW file is attached it is long time to wait if I wana copy some objects from another files
( ctrl+c --> ctrl+v ;
edit/copy--> edit/paste
edit/copy--> edit/paste in orig. coord.
etc)
or load,reaload XRefs...

Any solutions???

Try this one in..........
In the drawing you are copying the ecw from select the image frame and in the properties dialog box turn off the show image option. Then copy that into you drawing then you can turn the show image back on... also if you have multiple prossecors change your system variable for whipthread to 3... this will speed you up a bit.

image files I attach easily...
But when image file ( *.ecw) is as external reference, any copy paste operation take a long time ...
My PC: quad core, RAM 2Gb, video asus Geforce GT8600...
But on all PC's in our office there are this effect...
I'm waiting for opinions...

Why are you trying to copy and paste an x'ref?...
Not the best pactice...
What exactly is your final product suposed to be?
Why wouldn't you just use the X-ref manager, and load the imagery in your drawing instead of the x-ref?... it runs faster if its in the actual drawing, since it only has to process the image and not the xref and image or images.

Good luck

Bizkit,I use Xref manager for image files... There are no problems that's ok...

Maybe I explain badly...
One more time-->
There are 2 drawing files: "a.dwg" and "b.dwg"
in the "a.dwg" file thrught Xref manager I attach image files (orthophoto).
Then I must copy some objects (lines, polilines, hatchs, some blocks, etc.) from "b.dwg" and paste to "a.dwg". Whatever what I use: copy-paste, copybase-paste, copy-pastecoordinates there are long time to wait for paste comand...
Please HELP.
cheers

Try to wblock out the objects you are coping and pasting. This may help to clean up whatever is bogging down your machine. thin insert the wblock . I would a be sure to keep the imagery off when bringing these items in. Sometime, especialy if you are working with line work that originated from Microstation it will substantionaly increase your file size. I constantly purge and audit my drawings... and the ones that give me alot of trouble I wblock the entire drawing, this usaully helps alot.
Good luck.

Could you convert the .ecw to another format that might not take as much memory? This could possibly help some. Otherwise I agree with bizkit to unload the image while bringing in your other info. This should speed it up. Only load the image when it needs to display.
